We’d Like to Thank the Academy

No, I do not have any “pills.” Nor do I know where you can find some.

I was chatting with a co-worker and friend the other day and we were curious as to why the local school district was the only one in the area that closed their schools due to the bad weather. It was snowing, yes, but not enough to keep the kids at home. He theorized that they just needed a break.
Here’s why. Just last week, the FBI strolled into a guidance counselors office and confiscated a computer of one of the counselors and escorted him out of the building. Now, I know this type of thing happens every day … but not in little old Huntingdon. In my opinion, this could mean one of a few things - 1. Kiddie Porn - 2. affiliations with “terrorists” - 3. hacker activity - 4. embezzlement.
I, personally, am leaning toward kiddie porn … for the simple fact that it makes for a better story and sh*t will hit the fan around here if that’s the case. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of it.
In addition to this, another teacher has come under fire for forcing their students to stand outside against a wall in the freezing cold as punishment for what one child did to “make trouble.”
I think they do need a break … maybe just sit the next couple plays out.

Today was my mom’s birthday. Today we had a snow storm. Since it was my mom’s birthday, I really wanted to make it home to see her. Did I mention there was a snow storm?
Some stats:
# of times I had to re-route my trip because of accidents - 2
# of times I could see the lines on the road going to/coming back from Philipsburg - 0
# of times my AWD Subaru kicked me back in a straight line because I veered onto the shoulder as a result of previous stat - 3
# of accidents seen - 5
# of performed donuts in open parking lots - 2
So here’s to you, Mr. All Wheel Drive Technology Inventor. Because you remove the fear from people who are dumb enough to drive in hazardous wintry conditions.

Big ups to Dave for writing a trackback spam killer. I plan to implement it very soon on my own as I see more and more trackback spam hitting my blog.

Dave brought to my attention an ebay sale in which someone was selling a frozen breaded shrimp that took on the appearance of Strong Bad’s Trogdor character. My response, a mix of humor and amazement, was that I was going to start selling pocket lint on ebay. I mean, seriously, if people can sell grilled cheese sandwiches and bricks with the faces of religious figures in them … why can’t I sell some pocket lint?
As it turns out, someone beat me to it. It’s not pocket lint, but it’s close enough. Seriously. WTF?
Thank you, ebay, for giving consumerism a new slant.
